Who among you are gardeners?

Until moving to DiTianTai, I spent 30 years living in an apartmentโ€”yes, with a shared garden that was property-managed, but it wasnโ€™t quite my own. My only personal space for growing anything was limited to the front and back balconies, and of course, indoors.

So, until I came here and created my own paradise, I never truly had a garden to call my own, to explore, and play in!

In my journey with the Dao, which centres on balance and harmony in life, there are many fulfilling skills we can cultivate.
Gardening, for instance, is an activity where you nurture lifeโ€”a living being, even if not conscious like us. Although, recent studies have sparked interest inthe sentience and intelligence of plantsโ€ฆ but that is another topic to satisfy my curious mindโ€ฆ

Despite my already full plate, I must admit that this new pastime is incredibly rewarding.  The visual beauty and soul-deep satisfaction it offers are indescribable.

The ability to nurture something into thriving is one of the true gifts of being human, as is our capacity to appreciate the beauty we help bring to life.

As a novice gardener, Iโ€™ve brought together elements of my scientific background , artistic sensibilities, and Dao wisdom to surround myself with gardens that harmonise the senses.

Can you guess what each of these disciplines has contributed to the gardens you see here?

For those of you whoโ€™ve taken my workshops or studied Feng Shui with me, I invite you to reflect: What lessons can you identify from your recent course that may be visible in these spaces?

Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughts and comments!
