On this sacred day, we gather in this Class (the 2nd cohort of my Feng Shui students) to honour and pay tribute to a remarkable soul—my father, the esteemed Grandmaster of Feng Shui. A visionary whose legacy transcends time and borders, he introduced the profound art of Traditional Feng Shui to the Western world over five decades ago.

My father came from humble beginnings, shaped by the ravages of World War II, where he lost his parents and brothers. He spent his life managing his uncle’s hardware and building materials business alongside his cousin. Yet, he was most renowned for his three great loves: Yet, he was most renowned for his three great loves: the complex and powerful world of martial arts, his quiet and humble dedication to helping many in both the physical and spiritual realms, and bringing the transformative practice of Traditional Chinese Feng Shui into the modern era.

His journey took him far and wide, that began from the bustling streets of London to the four corners of the earth. In these diverse places, he shared the transformative power of Feng Shui, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives. Among his students were seekers from the farthest reaches of the Earth—a Sakhalin fisherman, bankers, artists, surgeons, scientists, entrepreneurs, spiritual elders, and numerous corporations—all touched by his profound wisdom and guidance.

Ten years ago, at his wake, we were joined by a diverse multitude, many familiar and many unknown. Over a thousand signed the register, and just as many did not. When asked how they knew my father, the response was often a humble, “He helped me once.”

But beyond his role as a teacher and leader, my father embodied the very principles he espoused. He passed this passion to me, and I actively practice and live the teachings he so cherished. This day holds even greater significance, as it marks the tenth anniversary of a promise I made to him—to continue his legacy in both Feng Shui and Martial Arts Neigong. He is my father, my teacher, my mentor, and my inspiration: a wise and compassionate human being who never spoke a negative word about anyone, judged no one, and saw goodness in everyone. In honoring him, I strive to walk the path he illuminated, preserving and perpetuating the rich tradition he held so dear.

For his earthly spiritual deeds, wisdom elders have told me that he remains here on Earth as a Bodhisattva in spirit form to continue to guide those in need. He appears as a rainbow body whenever occurrences in my life are associated with him, reminding me that he is near. Often, I hear whispers in my mind—intuitive answers to questions related to his teachings in all three areas: spiritual, Feng Shui, and martial arts.

Ten years ago, we bid farewell to his earthly form, but today let us take solace in the knowledge that his spirit continues to touch and watch over those who have known him and those who have not. Many tell me they dream of him or feel his presence. His guidance endures, a beacon of light navigating us through the ever-changing currents of life. Dear father, your journey continues to touch and illuminate all our lives.

In this grand and sacred burial site, we gather to honour and pay tribute to a remarkable soul, my father, the esteemed Grandmaster of Feng Shui. Here lies a man whose legacy transcends time and borders, a visionary who pioneered the introduction of Traditional Feng Shui to the Western world over five decades ago.

As we stand amidst the intricate architecture of this cemetery, every detail speaks volumes of the profound significance it holds. It is a fitting resting place for a man of unparalleled wisdom, a true practitioner who epitomized the essence of Feng Shui with unwavering dedication and authenticity.

As we stand amidst the intricate architecture of this cemetery, every detail speaks volumes of the profound significance it holds. It is a fitting resting place for a man of unparalleled wisdom, a true practitioner who epitomized the essence of Feng Shui unlike any other. While others dabbled in half-hearted attempts, my father embraced the teachings with unwavering dedication and authenticity.

At his wake were many people that we knew and just as many we did not know. Over a thousand signed the register, and just as many did not. When asked how did you know my father, the answer was to the tune of ‘He helped me once”.

His journey took him far and wide, from the bustling streets of London to the remote corners of the globe. It was in these diverse landscapes that he shared the transformative power of Feng Shui, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals. Among his students were seekers from the farthest reaches of the Earth, a Sakhalin fishermen, a dental surgeon, Rinpoches, entrepreneurs among his students, and countless corporations each touched by his profound wisdom and guidance.

But beyond his role as a teacher and a leader, my father embodied the very principles he espoused. Our family stands as a testament to this, actively practicing and living the teachings we share with the world. In honouring him, we continue to walk the talk, preserving and perpetuating the rich tradition he held so dear.

As we bid farewell to his earthly form, let us take solace in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his legacy endure for generations to come, a beacon of light guiding us through the ever-changing currents of life. Rest in peace, dear father, knowing that your journey has left an indelible imprint on the fabric of existence.

He came from a humble background, like so many of his time that came from the ravages of World War II, where he lost his parents and brothers. He spent all of his adult working life managing his uncle’s hardware building materials business with his cousin. But he had three loves that he was most well-known for, martial arts, spiritual duty (helping the spiritual world) and Feng Shui.

STEPPING INTO MY LEGACY🎗 – WHY NOW?

Nine years ago, on the eve of his passing, my father entrusted me with a Promise📝: to carry forward his legacy🎗 and share the authentic wisdom of Traditional Chinese Feng Shui 🌟 with the Western world.

This commitment is both an honour and a daunting responsibility. How am I to fulfil this monumental task?🏔

So for nearly a decade, that Promise📝 remained dormant. But life has not: Wrapping up my business and four decades living in Australia, meeting and marrying my soulmate💞, moved country🌏, and fulfilled🎉 my lifelong vision to build my very own ‘perfect Feng Shui house and garden🌟 🏡’. This was finally completed last year.

Fast forward to June 5 2023, exactly nine years to the day my father passed away⚰️. I made a life-altering decision to step up, step out, and step into🧍🏻‍♀️my legacy🎗, which brings me before all of you today. 🌈💜

But what spurred this pivotal decision? In my introductory post on June 25th, I mentioned a crucial moment on June 1 that breathed life back into The Promise📝 I made to my father. Allow me to share the mystical and enchanting sequence of events that set it all into motion. 💫

The pivotal catalyst was the loss of a precious keepsake💔—a 24-carat gold-plated sacred talisman of Guru Padmasambhava Lotus Buddha🕉, a gift from my father half a century ago.

On May 31st, after a night at the opera, Kim and I returned to Arielle moored at The Viaduct. That’s when I realized my cherished Lotus Buddha talisman🕉🧿 was missing from around my neck. Panic set in as I scoured every inch of our vessel, and the search continued into the following morning as we prepared to set sail.

The crushing realization hit me that I must have lost the talisman during our night out. Tears streamed down my face😢. That talisman had been with me for five decades, 46 of those years spent living overseas far from home. I vividly remember the moment my father entrusted it to me, assuring me that it would watch over me. Kim, ever supportive, suggested that perhaps it would now watch over someone else in need. With heavy hearts, we had to cast off that morning to catch favourable winds for our voyage 🌊 home. Little did we know what lay ahead.

As we left our mooring at The Viaduct, a rainbow graced the Auckland skyline🌈🌆, with one end seemingly touching the Skytower. It followed us as we sailed past the city’s waterfront, over the shipping and container terminals, growing larger and more vibrant as we rounded North Head, forming a perfect arch with one end over North Head and the other beyond Browns Island. This was an incredibly uplifting moment for me since a rainbow is the sign of my father’s spirit presence.

Sailing along Rangitoto Channel, the rainbow became a brilliant double arch in the distance behind our stern🌈⛵. It trailed us for a remarkable five hours, a comforting presence that I couldn’t ignore. It was as if my father was consoling me for the loss of the talisman.

But the true significance of the events of the day only became evident later on.

The rainbow bid us farewell the moment Hui Hui’s Course Creation Challenge began at noon that very same day. I sensed then that this Challenge was important, and by Day 5, a profound epiphany struck me!💡

The timing was remarkably significant. My late father’s Chinese Lunar birthdate was June 4th, with his Gregorian birthdate on June 6th. He passed away on June 5th at the age of 88, a negotiated outcome with the ‘Force’ after a near-death experience two decades earlier. 📆

The way events unfurled—the lost talisman, the Rainbow’s accompaniment, the anniversary of my father’s passing jogging my memory of The Promise📝, Hui Hui IWU’s Course Creation Challenge— all converged to guide me. 🌈📚

It was as if my father’s spirit🌈😇 felt it was time for me to act, orchestrating the transformative sequence of events that unfurled over the serendipitous week of June. This awakening shocked me into awareness, rekindling my commitment to The Promise📝, and ignited an audacious Vision propelled by a renewed sense of purpose regarding my father’s profound legacy🎗.

On June 6, I signed up for Hui Hui’s Course Creation Program📚, certain it will illuminate my way forward towards fulfilling The Promise📝 I made to my father🌈.

And so, here I am! 🙌🏻🌈💜

“My Vision is to channel my lifetime’s mastery of Feng Shui to inspire influential leaders to embrace its principles in shaping our built environment for the greater good of society—bringing peace and harmony to all.” 🌍✌🏻🏡

#MasterBoon #Legacy🎗 #rainbow #rainbowspirit #FengshuiMaster #NewBeginnings #FengShuiLife #FengShuiLifestyle #TraditionalChineseFengShui #sailing #shamansway #fulfillingalegacy

City & Country: Grandmaster of feng shui
In the world of feng shui, Yap Cheng Hai is a name that requires little introduction.
Grandmaster Yap, as he is known in feng shui circles locally and abroad, has been a practitioner, consultant and teacher of geomancy decades before it became better known to the wider world.
For more than half a century, he has been offering feng shui solutions and executing them for an illustrious clientele comprising the who’s who in town – from top politicians and business tycoons to celebrities – as well as to those of more modest circumstances.
In the man himself, one can glimpse the intrigue of this ancient Chinese science. The intensity of his stare can be unnerving when he so chooses and he exhibits a dry sense of humour, cracking jokes at every opportunity. But beyond this is an unmistakable sense of inner strength and determination.
There is a certain aura about Yap that is impossible to ignore, something which tells you that there’s more to him than meets the eye.
The 76-year-old is fit as a fiddle, with healthy flushed cheeks and a physique honed by regular kung fu practice.
He says he knows 12 types of kung fu and nods gently but affirmatively when asked whether he practises often. Where? “Everywhere and anywhere. Even now,” he declares as he points to his abdomen. Hmm… Do I see slight movements?
The grandmaster is prepared to listen to your questions, but be prepared to receive questions in reply. His answers are often followed by a “do you get it?”
“I enjoy life,” he declares to City & Country. And it shows in his passion – and there are many.
“I love music. All brands. Which singer do I like? It does not matter. From classical to pop. Who cares who’s the singer or group? As long as it’s good music…”
He’s crazy about paintings as well. “I collect originals, Van Gogh… I never fail to visit the Louvre whenever I am in Paris. I have just come back from a visit there.”
And there’s more. “I love photography. I have a collection of cameras [20 video cameras and cameras to be exact]. Eight of the cameras are Leicas. I am a Gemini – I like anything, I enjoy life,” he repeats.
“I am not the richest man on earth. But how can I help people to be happy and enjoy life if I don’t enjoy life myself?” he chuckles. He is an entertainer when he so chooses and in his face, some see a resemblance to the Laughing Buddha, Matrieya.
I spot a huge blue sapphire ring encased in sparkling diamonds on his finger. Is that a gift from one of his clients?
“Bulls**t,” he almost roars. “I bought that. I have 45 rings!”
Welcome to the world of Yap Cheng Hai. A landscape that spans beyond mountains, rivers, qi, poison arrows and pakua. And experiences and encounters that’ll send chills down your spine – like something out of Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Take the following episode, in Yap’s own words.
Yap’s mummy friend in London
The year: 1975. Place: British Museum. Time: almost 5pm.
“I was in London to enroll my son into college. That day, my friend Chin [who holds a doctorate] and I popped over to the museum. Before I entered the mummy display room, I sent out a telepathic message – please communicate with me, whoever, whatever”
“Somehow, I was drawn to an exhibit at the other end of the huge hall. Without the benefit of its inscription, I could, to the amazement of Chin, rattle off details of the mummy – he was about 3,000 years old, a temple caretaker who died when he was just 19 or 20 years old.”
“By then, it was closing time, Chin and I walked towards the exit and both of us felt a strange gush of cold air behind us – my newfound friend was ushering us out! My friend – Chin, that is – shuddered.”
“The following year, I went back to the museum, this time alone. I looked up my ‘friend’ and we ‘chatted’. I asked him about his looks and before I knew it, I started walking away from him, took two turns to the left and then bingo, in front of me was an upright coffin cover with the carved image of his face! He was quite handsome, actually.”
“I have since gone back several times – each time I’m in London. On my last trip, my ‘friend’ was no longer there! I ‘asked’ him where he was and he responded – from the cellar. The museum authorities obviously rotate its exhibits.”
How it all started.
With the benefit of hindsight, it is clear that Yap, from a tender age, has been destined to walk the path of feng shui. An avid fan of palmistry, Chinese culture and the mystic, he used to come out top in history, geography and mathematics – the so-called ingredients behind the science of feng shui. History and geography deal with culture and topography while mathematical skill equals an analytical ability. Was it any wonder then that Yap was attracted to feng shui?
Still, his affinity with geomancy did not surface till years later. Upon graduation from the Singapore High School in 1949, he was intent on pursuing a career in electrical engineering – all because there were only two electrical engineers in Singapore then and the prospects the profession offered were tremendous! As fate had it, Yap’s businessman uncle managed to persuade the young man to work for him instead.
Three years into the job at building materials company Chin Ho & Co in Kuala Lumpur, Yap was promoted to manager, along with a pay jump from the initial RM400 to RM700. Life carried on, with little surprises, until feng shui came into play.
‘Wind and water’
Feng shui literally means “wind and water” in Chinese. As advocates believe, there are auspicious and inauspicious land sites, just as there are good and not-so-desirable positioning of homes and workplaces (even down to the measurement of the desk and its height).
In the house, good feng shui positioning is said to create and promote, among other positives, harmonious relationships, good health, abundance and prosperity. Yap, who was staying in Petaling Jaya as a young man, was familiar with all these.
“My two very young sons then [Yap has three sons and a daughter] were always ill and could only feed on a special and very expensive formula milk. Life was trying, you may say. One day, it suddenly dawned on me that something was amiss with the feng shui of the house. I did some calculations and moved the boys’ room accordingly. Believe it or not, very quickly after that, they could go off the special formula.”
From then, there was no turning back for Yap and his conviction about feng shui and its power.
Guranteed to work?
Does feng shui work 100 per cent of the time? Are results guaranteed? I pop the question only to be asked: “Does a doctor guarantee a patient his wellness? Do you ever ask a doctor to guarantee that he makes you feel well?”
Pausing briefly, Yap continues, this time in a more gentle tone: “Feng shui is not foolproof. A doctor may examine a patient and then prescribe a treatment. What if the prescribed medication is not taken accordingly?”
Moreover, Yap is quick to add, the best feng shui formula can only be harnessed “if the heart is good”. What exactly does he mean? “Well, God helps those who help themselves” he replies.
As for his track record, he estimates to have carried out more than 10,000 feng shui consultations in the last 50 years. The figure works out to an average of 200 a year or one every other day.
And how much does each consultation cost his clients? Yap would only offer candidly: “It depends. A shop will differ from an office building. Even link houses will vary – if they [residents/owners] can afford to stay in a bigger house, they can afford to pay more.” Much also will depend on what Yap calls “affinity between him and the prospective clients”.
Besides consultations and the building material business, these days sees Yap travelling abroad extensively, his “little black book” filled to the margins.
It is during these trips overseas that Yap lifts the curtain on his world of feng shui, conducting seminars the frequency of which is growing rapidly due to expanding interest in the Yap Cheng Hai Feng Shui Centre of Excellence. The centre conducts feng shui courses and trains exponents around the world and at last count, it boasts 2,500 students from 35 countries. The centre was founded by Yap and his protégé Joey Yap eight years ago.
So, when Yap is not busy detailing the fundamentals of feng shui to clients in a bid to convert dire “no-cure” situations into productive and harmonious abodes, he is imparting his know-how on what it takes in order to do just that.
By the way, five in Yap’s family have followed in his footsteps – two of his three sons, their wives and his daughter are his students.
— end —

The Rat must be sincere and honest in his dealings. Try and avoid getting involved in accidents and help people to reap good karma.

Don’t attend funerals and do not partake in foods offered to the dead. If you’ve any sickness, go for an early medical check-up. It’s a good year to take up meditation or learn something new for knowledge. Turn a deaf ear to gossips.
Ox (1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997)
This is not a good year especially for business dealings. Be careful of your partners or friends who may fail
you. However, the Ox can have a happy and peaceful life. Money luck is not bad. You can still enjoy good
food and attend big parties.
