Xuan Kong Da Gua ( 玄空大卦 ) Profound Emptiness of the Hexagram

Xuan Kong Da Gua has its basis on the 64 hexagrams of the Yi Jing. It evolved from the San Yuan School at about 1000 AD. Out of these hexagrams come the Period Numbers and the Element Numbers. Combined with Zheng Shen and Ling Shen theory from the Luo Shu, this system is about tapping into auspicious yang qi for buildings to bring prosperity to the living and yin qi for burial sites to make life a success for the descendants.

Its other main purpose is for date selection where the year, month, day and hour can each be expressed as a hexagram. There exist various methods within this school for selecting auspicious dates. Date selection is a subspecialty that has emerged from Feng Shui. In Feng Shui, it is often used for choosing the best time for renovation. Of course it’s worth extends to choosing auspicious dates for marriage, for making major decisions, and other important occasions.
