Ba Zhai ( 八宅 ) Eight Mansions

Controversies abound in relation to when this School began, what is the true method behind this system, and how should it be applied.

Notwithstanding, it is common knowledge that Ba Zhai was developed specifically for the use of buildings, matching direction and location of the premise with the person’s guardian star, their Life Gua ( 命卦 ).

When Ba Zhai is fully understood and appropriately applied, it is one of the most effective Schools of Feng Shui that is relatively easy to learn and apply.

Each person is assigned one of the 8 Life Gua from the moment of their birth. Of the 8 Life Gua, 4 belong to the East Life Group and 4 belong to the West Life Group. What this means is that all East Life Gua people have 4 compass directions / sectors that carry auspicious Qi to them and 4 compass directions / sectors that bear inauspicious Qi for them. Conversely, for the West Life Gua people.

The objective is to avoid the inauspicious and orientate to harness the auspicious. This requires orientating the building to suit the person’s Life Gua, and where necessary, using countermeasures and timing to optimise the situation.
